New training center for SAS Flight Academy SAS Flight Academy will establish a new training center at Oslo Airport (Gardermoen), Norway. Anchor customers are Braathens, Scandinavian Airlines and Widerøe. Inspired by the deep experience within the four organizations, the center is set to be a landmark within aviation training. The new training center will be operational on August 15, 2004, and will initially have three full flight simulators, B737NG, B737 Classic, and Dash8-100/300. There will also be equipment for cabin crew training for the same aircraft types. The building, which is under construction, will be built in an airy and modern style, and will include among other things classrooms, rooms for briefing and debriefing, and CBT-stations. Olof Bärve, President of SAS Flight Academy, says, "The training facility provides an outstanding opportunity to develop SAS Flight Academy even further. The co-operation with Braathens, Scandinavian Airlines and Widerøe, all forerunners within aviation training development, will offer immediate advantages to those operators. In addition, it makes SAS Flight Academy an even more interesting alternative for other airlines all over the world." The new training center will strengthen SAS Flight Academy's position as one of the leading training centers in Europe. The company already has two training centers, one in Stockholm, Sweden, and one in Copenhagen, Denmark, and provides training for pilots, cabin crews, maintenance technicians and ships' officers. It offers training for twelve different aircraft types, ranging from regional to long haul aircraft and helicopter.
