SAS Flight Academy AB to Expand with New Training Center in Riga, Latvia 2005

In 2005, SAS Flight Academy AB will expand into the Baltic region with a new training center in Riga, Latvia. Initially, one B737-300/400/500 full flight simulator with additional high technology training equipment will be featured. The region’s key customer airBaltic, is part of the SAS Group. Bertolt Flick, President of airBaltic comments; “We highly welcome this decision, since it will give us a cost-effective, high standard of training in the vicinity of our home base.” SAS Flight Academy’s position as one of the leading flight-training suppliers on the European market will be further strengthened by this expansion. Olof Bärve, President of SAS Flight Academy concludes, “The Riga expansion fits well into our strategy of establishing training centers close to our customers. The Baltic region and Russia are expansive markets and very interesting for us.”
