SAS Flight Academy expands its helicopter training portfolio SAS Flight Academy has reached an agreement with Proflight Nordic AB, Sweden, to market Proflight's training services. SAS Flight Academy will incorporate Proflight's Basic Helicopter Training, Commercial Pilot's License (CPL) and Instrument Rating (IR) in its training programs. Parts of the training will be conducted in SAS Flight Academy's Bell 212&412 flight simulator. Other helicopter courses in the SAS Flight Academy course portfolio are the recently developed "Generic NVG Basic Course", Helicopter Crew Resource Management (HCRM), mission training, such as SAR (Search and Rescue), HEMS (Helicopter Emergency and Medical Services), Instructor Course, and for the Bell/AB 412/212 Type Rating training, Recurrent training, Technical Refresher Course, Differences Course and simulator dry lease. Proflight Nordic has trained professional helicopter pilots since the beginning of 1970 at its base in the city of Norrtälje and carries a JAR FTO (Flying Training Organization) approval. During the years Proflight Nordic has trained numerous pilots, and most of them are today active in civilian ambulance and search and rescue operations or other transport services. Proflight Nordic has strong connections with the Nordic helicopter community. Proflight Nordic also operates a commercial helicopter service, providing charter, VIP and aerial work. SAS Flight Academy, a JAR TRTO (Type Rating Training Organization), provides training for pilots, cabin crews, maintenance technicians and ships' officers. It offers training for twelve different aircraft types, ranging from regional to long haul aircraft and helicopter. SAS Flight Academy has two training centres, one in Stockholm, Sweden, and one in Copenhagen, Denmark, and will open a third training centre at Gardermoen, Oslo Airport, Norway, in August 2004.
