President of future SAS company appointed On October 1, the SAS Group will establish its SAS Ground Services business area as a wholly owned subsidiary. Madeleine Raukas, 37, has been appointed president of the Swedish operations. "I take a positive view of the future," says Madeleine Raukas. "We have a favorable platform with a strong brand, competent employees and automated solutions that simplify procedures for travelers at airports." SAS Ground Services Sweden currently provides services for 30 airlines at 16 airports, from Kiruna in the north to Malmö in the south. The offering includes passenger service, check-in and boarding, lounges, loading, unloading, cleaning and deicing of aircraft. With sales of SEK 1.4 billion and 2,600 employees, the operation is already the largest player in the Swedish market. The operations are part of SAS Ground Services, a global player with sales of SEK 5.6 billion and some 100 airlines as customers. With 8,000 employees, the operations have representatives at more than 100 airports in 34 countries.
