Following local negotiations, the Swedish Air Transport Employers’ Association and the Swedish Transport Workers’ Union signed an agreement today on the transition to the “National Agreement” for about 800 loaders within SAS Ground Services Sweden. The parties have also signed an agreement on transition rules.

The transition means that loaders at SAS Ground Services will have the same agreement as other loaders in the industry. “The competition in the airline industry is intense. We cannot afford more expensive agreements than our competitors in load-handling,” says Madeleine Raukas, President of SAS Ground Services Sweden. “As a result of this agreement, we can now compete on the same terms as other players in our industry. It is positive that the Swedish Transport Workers’ Union wants to be involved in creating these conditions in the Swedish market.” SAS Ground Services (SGS) is a ground-services company that is wholly owned by the SAS Group. SGS Sweden provides such ground services as checking-in of passengers and loading and unloading of baggage at 16 Swedish airports. SGS Sweden has sales of SEK 1,400 M, has some 30 airlines as customers and about 2,500 employees.
