bmi, one of the largest airlines in the UK, has signed an agreement with SAS Ground Services for ground handling at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago. The agreement is effective from June 21.

bmi operates one daily Airbus A330 flight out of Chicago to Manchester. SAS Ground Services was chosen after a comprehensive evaluation of several offers and represents bmi's first change in handling arrangements since the start of operations to O'Hare in 2001. – This agreement allows bmi to realize improved cost efficiencies and service standards, says Peter Thorn, general manager commercial bmi. The co-operation paves the way for early introduction of electronic ticketing on the route, which is of significant benefit to our customers. It is also beneficial that the passenger service remains with a company that already handles Star Alliance, with all the synergies and competencies that brings. – We are very happy to have concluded this agreement with bmi and thereby being able to count yet another quality carrier among our customers, says Flemming Alsing, responsible for the agreement in SAS Ground Services International.
