Online retailer gets a foot in the mobile search market
Footstools2u Launches Mobile Friendly Website
North Yorkshire, UK (October 24, 2011) - The UK’s best known online footstool retailer is leading the sector when it comes to meeting consumer demand in the growing mobile search market by launching a mobile friendly version of its website.
North Yorkshire based www.footstools2u.co.uk is the number 1 rated site in google.co.uk for “footstool” searches. It is now also one of the first independent retailers to launch a mobile friendly version of its website. The new mobile website is designed to ensure visitors can find and buy products quickly and easily whilst searching the Internet using a mobile phone, Smartphone or tablet device which may have a limited screen size.
Footstools2u products are all made to order in the UK and customers can choose from a wide variety of materials, fabrics and colours. The mobile website also allows customers to order material samples prior to placing an order.
The number of Internet searches from mobile phones has grown exponentially with the advent and increasing popularity of Smartphones, such as Blackberry and iPhone. Smartphones provide connectivity and Internet access on the move which has led to a dramatic change in the search market.
Brands such as Argos, Ebay and John Lewis all have versions of their websites specifically designed for visitors from mobile phones; but most independent retailers have been slow to recognise the significant shift in the market. Google estimates up to 15% of all searches made already come from mobile devices.
Footstools2u has been trading online since 2007 and business owner, Andrew Lydon, has observed the changes throughout 2011. Lydon commented, “At the start of the year 5.26% of visits came through mobile devices and by October this had grown to 12.85% and it’s only going to increase further .”
“As our traffic is continuing to grow from mobile devices we just want to make sure that we’re able to provide visitors with a website that is easy to use and makes the process of buying very simple”, added Mr Lydon.
The mobile market is growing at a dramatic rate and the demand for mobile websites is expected to be significant in the next 18 months. The Footstools2u mobile website was developed by UK based web company SAYU. The company recently launched www.sayuconnect.com that allows for the rapid development of mobile websites for any business.
SayuConnect has been designed to handle tens of thousands of products, many thousands of unique categories and product options. It can even be configured to maintain up-to-date stock levels. The SayuConnect website also has a tool that’s able to show how existing websites look on mobile devices (http://www.sayuconnect.com/mobile_check.php).
