Ortviken paper mill enters discussions on temporary layoffs

The corona pandemic has lead to significant short-term uncertainties for the publication paper market. This may lead the Ortviken Publication Paper mill to temporarily halt production. As a result Ortviken has entered discussions with the trade unions regarding temporary layoffs.

The corona pandemic has lead to short-term uncertainty regarding publication paper demand, which may lead to market-related production stops at the Ortviken mill during the spring and summer.

SCA has entered discussions with the trade unions on potential temporary layoffs of employees if required in the event of market related temporary production stops. This could be in the form of stops for short periods during spring and summer.

There are 650 employees working at Ortviken paper mill. Ortviken produces coated and uncoated paper for magazines, catalogues and commercial print.  The production capacity is 775,000 tonnes per annum.
