    Investment in kraftliner in Munksund

    SCA will invest a total of SEK 540m to strengthen kraftliner production in Munksund, Piteå, Sweden. The intention is to upgrade the paper machine and refurbish the soda-recovery boiler.The main aim of the investment is to increase production of the share of value-added products, such as White-Top Kraftliner, which, for example, is used for packaging of fast-moving consumer goods with high-quality print. As a result of the SEK 540m investment, Munksund will be able to increase its total annual kraftliner capacity to 415,000 tonnes from the current level of 360,000 tonnes. The bulk of the

    SCA acquires hygiene products company in Brazil

    SCA is acquiring the Brazilian hygiene products company Pro Descart. Consideration for the deal amounts to SEK 450m on a debt-free basis. The company has annual sales of SEK 360m.Brazil is the most highly populated country in South America, with 190 million inhabitants and a favourable economic growth.     SCA to invest more than SEK 800m in tissue and improved newsprint

    SCA will invest SEK 460m in a tissue machine upgrade in the US. A decision has also been made to rebuild a paper machine in Ortviken for the manufacture of improved newsprint, an investment totalling SEK 350m.To meet demand for premium products in the US market, SCA has decided to invest in an upgrade of an existing tissue machine. The machine today has a capacity of 70,000 annual tons, which will remain unchanged. Production is estimated to commence during late 2012 or early 2013. A newsprint paper machine in Ortviken, Sundsvall, will be rebuilt to allow production of improved newsprint.

    SCA is investing in expanded capacity for tissue and solid wood products

    SCA is investing in expanded tissue capacity in Russia and Germany, and in solid-wood products in Sweden. The investments will total approximately SEK 2.6bn (approx. EUR 290m).There is favourable growth in the Russian tissue market and SCA is the leading player, with such strong brands as Tork and Zewa. To further reinforce and strengthen the market position, a decision has been made to invest approximately SEK 1.2bn (approx. EUR 130m) in a second tissue machine in Sovetsk, Russia. The new tissue machine has a capacity of 60,000 tons annually and production is based on virgin fibre.

    Baby diapers acquisition strengthens SCA´s presence in Mexico and Central America

    SCA is purchasing the Copamex baby diaper business in Mexico and Central America. The purchase price is equivalent to approximately USD 50m on a debt-free basis.Copamex produces well-known baby diaper brands Dry Kids for the Mexican market and Tessy Babies for consumers in Central America. Sales in the acquired business was approximately USD 60m in 2009.     SCA invests in Munksund

    A new winder will further improve production capability of our premium product SCA White Top Kraftliner at the SCA-owned Munksund mill outside Piteå, Sweden.SCA White Top Kraftliner is a product that is showing strong growth in the market. This grade of containerboard has a full-cover white surface layer, which offers very good printing characteristics.     SCA has decided to invest SEK 500m in a new lime kiln at the Östrand pulp mill in Timrå, Sweden. The production at the Östrand plant increases by 10,000 tonnes of pulp per year and reduce its fossil-based CO2 emissions by 80%. The investment makes a future increase in capacity possible.The new lime kiln will replace two existing oil-fired lime kilns and will use fuel pellets from SCA's BioNorr plant in Härnösand.
