March 19, 1998 District Court approves Optiroc's acquisition of Stråbruken On Thursday Stockholm District Court passed judgement on Optiroc's acquisition of Stråbruken from NCC. The District Court approves the deal in its entirety and the verdict was unanimous. "The District Court has made a correct judgement of the market situation. The acquisition is necessary in order to create an internationally competitive actor. In this way we can maintain and develop Swedish industry within the premixed product and brick sectors", says Cornelis Altena, President of Optiroc Group. "As the judgement is unanimous we hope that it is not appealed but gains legal force. Now we need peace and quiet so that we can carry through the required structural changes." "It is positive for Stråbruken that this deal can be accomplished", comments Tommy Nilsson of NCC. "Stråbruken now becomes part of a constellation with good prerequisites on the more and more important European market." The Optiroc Group companies manufacture and sell building materials and systems that are used primarily for wall and floor constructions, such as premixed products and brick as well as lightweight aggregates. Optiroc Group, with sales of SEK 3.5 billion and 2,600 employees, is a business area within the Scancem Group.
