Scancem acquires Danish premix producer

Scancem acquires Danish premix producer Optiroc Group AB - parent company of Scancem's business area Masonry Products - on Monday reached an agreement with the Danish stock exchange-quoted Calkas Group to acquire all shares outstanding in Calkas' subsidiary Dansk SystemMørtel A-S. Dansk SystemMørtel is the leading producer of premix products in Denmark. The company is estimated to have sales of approximately DKK 150 M in 1997 and has three plants for premixed dry and 12 units for wet-mixed mortar products in Denmark.The number of employees is about 110. - The acquisition gives Optiroc the possibility to introduce new products on the Danish market at the same time as we create a Nordic foundation for our premix operations, says Cornelis Altena, President of Optiroc Group. The basis for or product development is also broadened through the agreement, and we will get increased prospects to work up a market for our special products in northern Germany.
