SCANSTAD - a new quarter planned in the lime-stone quarry Together with architects in the Landskronagruppen, Scancem has worked out a plan for a completely new town district, SCANSTAD, in southern Malmö. The area is located at the limestone quarry and the bridge-abutment for the Öresund Link in Limhamn. In the future this will be the gate to Sweden and Malmö's new European profile, close to two airports, four universities and several city centers. A substantial tract of land, including the limestone quarry, belong to Scancem. - The concept contains a comprehensive solution for construction, landscaping and traffic solutions, says Larry Servin, President of Scancem Fastigheter AB. SCANSTAD will offer an integrated environment for housing, working sites, services and insitutions, created for people and companies of tomorrow. We will establish a thrilling city, where the special features of the quarry and its differences in levels will be safeguarded. Companies will be offered good possibilities to expose themselves along the regional traffic route. - It's a very inspiring project, comments Rolf Pålsson, municipal commissioner in Malmö. The new SCANSTAD will cover an area of 2.3 million square meters and will contain approximately 4,500 housing units and 3,000-4,000 working sites. In a region that will have more than 2.3 million inhabitants in the beginning of the next millenium, the attractive location is supposed to increase the interest for the project, also internationally. ------------------------------------------------------------ Please visit http://www.bit.se for further information The following files are available for download: http://www.bit.se/bitonline/1997/04/29/19990108BIT00130/bit0001.doc http://www.bit.se/bitonline/1997/04/29/19990108BIT00130/bit0002.pdf
