Continued growth in the Nordic region through acquisition in Norway The acquisition of Arkon AS in Bergen, Norway, has further strengthened Scandiaconsult's growth. The company is an inter-disciplinary skills centre conducting operations involving project development, project management, architecture and building technology. Founded in 1976, Arkon currently employs 22 people. Net sales in 2000 totalled NOK 10 million. In recent years, Arkon has been involved in several noteworthy Norwegian construction projects, including Storebrand's new headquarters, the Norwegian School of Management in Oslo, Torgallmenningen and Fisketorget. The company's business activities will be conducted within Scandiaconsult's Norwegian subsidiary, Scandiaconsult AS. "This acquisition further consolidates our leading position in Vestlandet. Our ambition is now to pursue this development and strengthen our inter-disciplinary profile to suit our clients' needs," says Jan Ove Holmen, MD of Scandiaconsult AS. "A merger with Scandiaconsult is a natural step in the company's development. The construction industry faces a series of challenges, and recruitment, environmental awareness and profitability are crucial areas. A strong Nordic company like Scandiaconsult is well equipped to cope with them," says Jon Faaland, MD of Arkon.
