Scandiaconsult given E4 assignment Skanska has selected Scandiaconsult as its collaborative partner for design and planning for the widening of the E4 motorway between Rotebro and the Väsby intersection north of Stockholm. The contract is worth SEK 6.5 million. The agreement also includes a number of options in the project, which means that the final contract total may increase by SEK 8.5 million. In the light of the extensive development north of Stockholm and the growing traffic volume at Arlanda airport, the Swedish National Road Administration has decided to widen the E4 motorway. Between Rotebro and the Väsby intersection, the road will be widened from two to three lanes in each direction. The assignment is complex and involves managing and coordinating a number of qualified technical disciplines such as geotechnology, dewatering, landscaping, electricity and lighting as well as data co- ordination. Scandiaconsult will also assume responsibility for the design of temporary traffic solutions during the construction period. The project will start after the summer, and its completion is scheduled for the autumn of 2004. "Interdisciplinary projects such as this impose high demands on both expertise and previous experience. We are delighted to say that Skanska came to the conclusion that we meet these high requirements," says Ruben Aronsson, head of Scandiaconsult's Region East, which signed the project agreement with Skanska.
