Michelin presents another sustainable racing tyre based on recovered carbon black from Enviro

The new tyre contains 46 percent renewable and recovered material, including recovered carbon black delivered by Enviro to Michelin. Michelin presented the new high-performance tyre mounted on the electric-hydrogen, long-distance racing car, GreenGT Mission H24. Earlier this spring, Michelin also presented a sustainable racing tyre for MotoE, a racing series for electric motorcycles, which also contained recovered carbon black from Enviro. Michelin has announced the goal that all its tyres will be manufactured entirely from sustainable material by 2050.
“Once again, Michelin has shown that there is no contradiction between increased sustainability and high performance in the tyre industry. This confirms the potential for recovered carbon black and also gives significant credibility to Michelin’s long-term ambition that all tyres will eventually be completely made from sustainable material,” says Thomas Sörensson, CEO of Enviro.
Enviro plays key role in increased sustainability focus
Since Michelin became the largest owner of Enviro last spring, Michelin has highlighted its investment and collaboration with the Swedish company as a key component of its sustainability work. At Michelin’s capital markets day earlier this spring, sustainability was a central theme. The collaboration with Enviro, and Enviro’s recovery technology, was highlighted a number of times as a key factor in Michelin’s potential to achieve its sustainability targets.

Enviro is a company developing, building and operating industrial plants for material recovery from End of Life Tyres (ELT). The company has developed a process, based on a patented technology, where gas generated in the process is heating the tyres in absence of oxygen. This enables the materials in the tyres to decompose and be recovered instead of incinerated. Thus, a sustainable recovery of the resources Carbon black, Oil, Steel and Gas is obtained. The products are used in new products, replacing fossil resources to help the customers reach their sustainability targets. Enviro was founded in 2001, has its head office in Gothenburg and runs its own plant for ELT tyres in Åsensbruk, Sweden. The company is listed on the Nasdaq First North Growth Market with Mangold Fondkommission AB, tel. +46 (0)8 5030 1550, firstname.lastname@example.org, as its Certified Advisor. www.envirosystems.se
