Up to 79 per cent bio-oil from tyre waste
The American laboratory Beta Analytic confirms that the proportion of non-fossil content – bio oil – in oil recovered by Enviro, can amount to no less than 79 per cent.
“Our international customers have shown great interest in these findings as they influence the actual offset value of the recovered oil and thus the investment in a recycling installation,” says Thomas Sörensson, Enviro’s CEO.
Enviro recently concluded tests in collaboration with the independent laboratory Beta Analytic in Miami to confirm the proportion of non-fossil content in recovered pyrolysis oil; the tests were performed according to accepted ASTM standards.
“The results showed that the proportion of bio-oil varies from 48 per cent to no less than 79 per cent, depending on the type of tyre. Having it in writing that the natural rubber raw product used in the new production of tyres can to a very large extent be recycled in the industry with the aid of our technology is very satisfying,” says Enviro's Technical Manager.
Tests were carried out on pyrolysis oil recovered from various types of tyre raw products. A combination of tyres from private cars and commercial vehicles such as trucks and buses provides 48 per cent bio-oil, while tyres from mining machines can provide up to 79 per cent.
“Being able to present the clear environmental and market values our process provides by taking care of all sorts of tyres with a range of different natural rubber contents is a great boost,” says Enviro’s CEO Thomas Sörensson.
