Further success for Scania buses in Chile Scania Chile recorded an excellent conclusion to the year 2000 by securing two major orders for a total of 57 Scania K124 intercity buses from the Turbus and Pullman Bus companies. Together, the contracts are worth a total of about USD 8 million. With 15 terminals and a fleet of over 900 buses, including 400 Scanias, Turbus is one of the leading bus operators in Chile. The company operates passenger services throughout Chile, as well as long-distance routes across the Andes to Argentina. "The decision by Turbus to add another 27 Scania K124 intercity buses with Busscar bodies is an excellent example of our close and successful cooperation with the leading bus operators in the country," comments Richard König, MD of Scania Chile. Pullman Bus, which has been operating for over 30 years and has a fleet of over 700 buses, is also a leading player in the Chilean bus market. The 30 intercity buses that the company has ordered will be Scania K124 models with 360-hp 12-litre engines. The vehicles will be bodyworked by Busscar and Marcopolo.
