Major order for Scania in Australia

Two Sydney bus operators have placed orders which rank among the largest in Scania Australia’s history.

Westbus, ordering 127 Scania bus chassis, is Sydney's largest private bus company carrying over 12 million customers and more than 9 million school children a year. Busways, ordering 80 buses, operates around 100 bus routes in the Sydney and Central Coast regions, and approximately 30 more in the North Coast area. The Busways deal is the first significant order for the Scania Euro 4 chassis in Australia. The two orders, finalised within weeks of each other, form part of a major upgrade to Sydney’s public transport system that will see the replacement and expansion of bus fleets across the city. Westbus has chosen a mix of Scania K94 and L94 chassis as its main route bus, while Busways has opted for the K230 Euro 4 chassis. “What is particularly pleasing about the two deals is that they’ve been won on the basis of Scania’s strengths – a quality product, fuel efficiency and strong after sales support,” said Scania Australia Managing Director Kaj Faerm.
