Scania is taking a further step in its effort to obtain replacement jobs in Falun, Sweden, when the company’s European axle and gearbox production is concentrated in Södertälje, Sweden. Zakrisdalsverken AB will take over portions of Scania’s production in Falun, thereby creating about 60 jobs.

“Together with the agreement we signed with the LEAX Group in June, so far we have obtained at least 160 replacement jobs in Falun,” says Per Hallberg, Scania’s Head of Production and Procurement. “This shows that we are taking responsibility for both our employees and the municipality. “Given the experience Zakrisdalsverken has from the vehicle industry, we will be gaining a quality-conscious, long-term supplier,” Mr Hallberg says. With its head office in Karlstad, Sweden, Zakrisdalsverken will take over the production of gear housings and rear axle parts for Scania trucks and buses. These operations will take place at Scania’s current premises in Falun. “Our investment in Falun is consistent with our strategy and gives us an opportunity to continue growing,” says Sören Strömberg, Managing Director of Zakrisdalsverken. Zakrisdalsverken AB, has a long tradition as a supplier of products and services mainly for the vehicle and defence industries.
