Nearly 1,000 young women and men have applied for the approximately 20 available posts in Scania’s Graduate Trainee Programme this autumn. When applications closed on 16 February, Scania noted 40 percent more applications than for the 2013 programme.

As earlier, most of the applicants are students from Stockholm’s Royal Institute of Technology and Linköping University’s Institute of Technology. This year, however, Scania has seen an increase in interest among students from Luleå University of Technology and Lund University’s Faculty of Engineering. The programme is open to Masters students in in engineering, information systems, and business and economics.

“The programme is open to students from all countries, studying in Sweden or abroad,” says Lisa Nordin, Trainee Programme Coordinator at Scania.

This year, roughly one-third of the applicants are women and Scania strives to recruit the same share. Interviews with the best qualified applicants will start at the beginning of March and one month later, the selected candidates will be offered employment as trainees.

”It’s highly encouraging to note the impressive number of applicants in the strong competition to qualify as trainee at Scania.” says Lisa Nordin.
