Scania and the Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturer Hino have signed an agreement to distribute Hino’s medium-duty trucks in the South Korean market. Sales will start in the spring of 2007.

”Through our alliance with Hino, which – like Scania – has a very strong brand, our organisation can also offer medium-duty trucks with high technical content and with good fuel economy and environmental performance. Both Scania and Hino foresee large future potential in this type of collaboration,” says Sangwon Lee, Managing Director of Scania Korea.

Through its subsidiary Scania Korea Ltd, Scania has a comprehensive network of 22 sales and service points. Sales of the medium-duty truck range will be made by a dedicated sales staff.

In March 2002, Scania and Hino entered into a strategic alliance. Since 2003, Hino has marketed Scania tractor units in the Japanese market.

“Our alliance with Hino has developed nicely. In addition to joint marketing efforts, there are frequent exchanges of knowledge and experience within R&D and production, which are beneficial to both companies,” says Leif Östling, President and CEO of Scania.
