Scania breakthrough in the Luxemburg city-bus market Scania has sold its first 13 city buses to the city of Luxemburg. The or- der marks a breakthrough for the company's city bus operations, and is the result of Scania's drive to put its city buses on the streets of Luxem- burg. The buses will be delivered starting in spring 2001. "This bus deal is of strategic importance to us. We are determined to be a comprehensive supplier of commercial vehicles on the Luxemburg market," says Mats Gunnarsson, MD of Scania Luxemburg. "Earlier this year, we de- livered the first four Scania trucks ever to the city of Luxemburg." "This order is the first result of our focus on the Luxemburg bus mar- ket," says Rolf Teljeby, Head of Scania Bus Europe. "The whole point of creating Scania Bus Europe was to better support the local organisations in their bus operations. This sale is evidence that we have truly succee- ded in that strategy." Of the 13 buses, nine are Scania OmniCity - a low-floor 12-metre bus - and four are 9-metre Scania MidiCity buses. The buses will be made at Scania's production units in Katrineholm in Sweden and Silkeborg in Denmark.
