Scania ethanol buses take a lead at London conference

Scania is taking a prominent role at a forthcoming conference organised by the BioAlcohol Fuel Foundation (BAFF) at Imperial College in London on Wednesday 22 March. Entitled, BioEthanol and the Road to Sustainable Transport, the event will outline the challenges associated with developing a sustainable road transport system as well as presenting some of the practical solutions available today.

As the world's only supplier of heavy commercial vehicles powered by ethanol, Scania has unrivalled experience and expertise in this field. Since 1990 some 600 Scania ethanol buses have been delivered to Swedish cities, most of them to the Swedish capital Stockholm, from where the public transport operator, AB Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL), reports remarkable environmental gains during this period. At the conference, Urban Johansson, Scania's Vice-President Powertrain Development will make a keynote speech entitled “Ethanol buses – experience and prospects for sustainable urban transport”. A single deck Scania OmniLink ethanol bus owned by SL will be exhibited outside the conference building.
