Scania secures French military order 300 trucks to be produced in Angers In the face of immensely tough competition, Scania's French service and distribution company Scania France has sold 300 three-axle all-wheel drive tanker trucks to the French military. The buyer is SEA, Service des Essences des Armées. The total value of the order is 90 million euros and the contract also includes service and maintenance of the vehicle fleet together with advanced drivers training. "This is an important order," comments Marc Haezenberghe, President of Scania France. "Scania already has a firm presence in the French military sector, for instance with our delivery of heavy tractors to the army in recent years." "The order marks the first time the French army buys vehicles in the heavy segment, 16 tons and above, totally based on Scania´s ordinary modularised product range. The 300 chassis from Scania will be equipped with stainless steel tanks from the French Lafon Group." The order means that Scania's French production company in Angers - which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary - is expanding its range to include more technically complex products. The 300 trucks will feature drive to all wheels, and their six-cylinder engines have a power output of 340 horsepower. On the international scene, Scania showed this robust chassis most recently at this year's Eurosatory 2002 military show in Paris in June.
