Birmingham charity St Basils embraces IT thanks to SCC

SCC is supporting local charity St Basils by providing them with improved IT capabilities.

St Basils work with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, helping over 5,000 young people per year across Birmingham, Sandwell, Solihull, Worcestershire, the Wyre Forest and Coventry.

The charity offers a range of advice, accommodation and support services to help young people regain the stability they need to rebuild their lives, gain skills, training and employment.

For the past 12 months, SCC has been working with young people at St Basils to help ease them into the world of work.

The partnership has proven hugely successful with the latest joint-run ‘employability day’ resulting young people being offered permanent roles at SCC.

SCC is donating IT equipment – refurbished at the company’s award-winning, state-of-the-art national recycling centre in Tyseley - to mobilise the charity and help enable the delivery of more efficient life skills and IT literacy.

SCC’s Pat McIntosh (pictured right) leads the relationship with St Basils and said: “The work St Basils does in the immediate area and beyond is fantastic.

“I’ve witnessed first-hand the engagement between the charity and the young people at St Basils, and the level of care, passion and enthusiasm to improve quality of life is inspiring.

“SCC is dedicated to supporting local charities and is delighted to have seen such a wonderful response from young people at St Basil at they continue to embrace IT."
