From Train Operators to Offshore Oil: ScreenSafe forges safety links with Road, Rail, Sea and Air

Meet the UK’s leading drug and alcohol test providers at The Health and Safety Event NEC, Birmingham 11th-13th March

ScreenSafe is marking its tenth anniversary by bringing its broadest range of drug and alcohol testing and consultancy services to date to the NEC next month.

Supported by the British Safety Council and sponsored by 3M, the Health and Safety Event is a free conference running for three days 11th-13th March, combining seminars and exhibitions for all health and safety professionals and risk managers.

“If you ever visit the Civil Aviation Authority’s offices at Gatwick Airport” says Matt Taylor, Managing Director for ScreenSafe, “you will see a huge sign cast in stone sitting outside the entrance that simple reads ‘Safety is not an accident’. And that just about sums up our ethos when it comes to implementing a robust drugs and alcohol policy for any organisation.”

“The policy must fit the organisation, and not the other way round. It has to be accepted and understood by staff and management alike, and needs to include training, education and a testing schedule for it to work efficiently.” Mr Taylor adds.

ScreenSafe’s clients include occupational health professionals, train operating companies, fleet managers and the biggest names in construction. Last year, ScreenSafe joined up with the Road Haulage Association (RHA) to introduce Smart Test, a drug and alcohol testing service for RHA members and to encourage haulage operators and fleet managers to prepare for the new laws in drug driving being implemented this year. The introduction of roadside drug testing devices is expected to lead to a significant rise in drug-driving testing.

“We are also delighted to be partnering AB Biomonitoring. They are world leaders in the provision of benzene exposure testing, supporting companies to make certain their safety procedures around the transportation and storage of benzene are secure. They work with most of the North Sea oil rigs, and with fracking in the news a lot recently, will play a pivotal role in determining the environmental impact of that technology.” Mr Taylor concludes.

ScreenSafe have again successfully passed their Link-Up and ISO 9001 audits in recent weeks.

To talk about drugs, alcohol testing and environmental biomonitoring programmes in Birmingham at the NEC visit them on stand B14 – a chocolate hamper will be won by a lucky  visitor!
