OMX Nasdaq-listed Seamless has won Västtrafik’s procurement for payment services for mobile tickets. Västtrafik is the operator of public transport services in the entire Västra Götaland region of Sweden and the contract covers payment services for mobile tickets for the next two years and includes a two-year extension option.

Västtrafik is Sweden’s second-largest public transport company with around 375,000 daily passengers. Seamless won the procurement, competing against some of the biggest players in the SMS billing and card payment market.

“Winning the contract shows that our mobile payment service meets current needs and requirements and that it is the best solution for Swedish public transport services. We are convinced that this agreement will allow us to show that, with our unique technology and our well proven transaction switch, we are one of the most dependable and flexible players in the market,” says Mikael Signarsson, senior business developer at Seamless.

“The order is a big step for Seamless’s mobile phone payment solution SEQR, as Västtrafik’s customers will now be able to pay for their tickets quickly and simply via SEQR,” says Emil Wikström, MD SEQR at Seamless.

The agreement can be signed on 15 October 2012 at the earliest – due to the qualifying period imposed by the Swedish Public Procurement Act – and applies until 14 October 2014, with an option to extend by a maximum of two years. The payment service will be launched for Västtrafik's passengers on 1 February 2013.

About SEQR
SEQR, developed by Seamless, is the fastest and easiest mobile payments solution currently available on the market. All customers need to do is use the SEQR app to scan the QR code at the POS terminal and approve the payment by entering their PIN. SEQR works just as well for physical transactions as for e-commerce, and is both faster and more secure than card payments. The technology behind the solution means that there is no investment cost for retailers. All that is required is a QR code sticker at the POS terminal. In addition, the low transaction charges allow the retailer to save money.
