Changed global manufacturing structure

In order to further strengthen the global competitiveness of Seco Tools products and services, the number of global production units for cemented carbide products will be reduced while at the same time the capability to serve local demand for specific customer designed tooling will be reinforced. A decision has been made to discontinue the carbide manufacturing in Warren, US, by mid 2006. The change will affect up to 100 people. The global production will principally be concentrated to the carbide plants in Czechia and Sweden. Administrative and warehousing units presently located in Warren will continue to operate from the Warren facility. Steel Tooling manufacture for NAFTA will remain unchanged in Lenoir City, Tennessee. “2005 was a record year for Seco Carboloy in NAFTA, which we view as a key growth region for the Seco Tools Group. A further increase of Seco Carboloy’s support capability to serve customer requirements while at the same time utilizing state of the art global production technology is imperative for further strengthening our market position” says CEO Kai Wärn.
