Further regional acquisition in USA Securitas has, through Pinkerton USA, acquired Doyle Protective Service, Inc. in the Mid-Atlantic and North-Eastern regions of the United States with annual sales of approximately MUSD 27 (MSEK 240). Doyle Protection Service was founded in 1919 and is primarily active in static guarding, complemented by mobile patrol and alarm response services. The company operates in the Mid-Atlantic region (Northern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania) and in the North-Eastern region (Upper-State New York) and has 1,500 employees. The total estimated guarding markets in the affected areas within the Mid- Atlantic and North-Eastern regions are MUSD 858 (MSEK 7,600) and MUSD 189 (MSEK 1,670) respectively. As a result of the acquisition, Pinkerton will increase its market share from 8 percent to 12 percent in the Mid-Atlantic region and from 7 percent to 16 percent in the Upper State New York part of the North-Eastern region. The acquisition will strengthen Pinkerton's market leadership in the affected area in the North-Eastern region and make Pinkerton the second largest in the Mid-Atlantic region. The acquisition price is approximately MUSD 9.8 (MSEK 87). The acquisition gives rise to goodwill of about MUSD 9.8 (MSEK 87), which will be amortized over 10 years. The acquisition will be included in the Securitas Group from July 2000 and will make a positive contribution to the Group's income in 2000. Including this acquisition, the USA operations of Securitas will have annual sales of MUSD 1,500 (MSEK 13,200).
