Continued success for Semcon in Brazil

Semcon’s Automotive R&D business area has, in a short time, signed deals with three customers in Brazil worth just over SEK 20 million. The three customers are General Motors, Volkswagen and Volvo Powertrain.

Semcon will provide development and design services to General Motors, while the order from Volkswagen’s car division in Sao Paulo is for development assignments and the order from Volvo Powertrain is for Semcon’s ComTest software system.

In addition to these deals Semcon signed a comprehensive three-year agreement with Volkswagen’s truck and bus division in Brazil in the beginning of April 2007. The agreement was initially going to involve 120 employees and this figure has already risen to 150.

“Brazil is now our third largest market in terms of employee numbers,” says Stefan Ohlsson, business area manager, Semcon Automotive R&D. “We have rapidly expanded and today there are almost 180 people there. We see major potential for continued growth.”
