Semcon adjusts its activities in Stockholm Semcon IT Consulting Telecom, Kista which serves the telecoms sector, is now feeling the effects of the economic slowdown. There has been a fall in demand from Ericsson and the rest of the telecoms sector. This has meant less work for the specialists working within IT Consulting Telecom at Kista in Stockholm. With little sign of a turnaround in this sector, the company has decided to adjust its organisation to reflect market conditions. IT Consulting Telecom in Kista has given notices of dismissal to 13 employees as part of an agreement with the county labour board. Negotiations with SIF and CF have begun due to the shortage of work. The employees have received information and the negotiations should be completed by the start of next week. - "It is sad and regrettable that we have to dismiss people," says Hans Johansson, CEO of Semcon. "However we will investigate all possibilities of finding suitable employment for them via our contact network outside Semcon, as unfortunately we cannot offer people with these specialist skills employment within the company." - "At the same time I must make reference to Semcon's recent six month report and emphasise that Semcon has performed well during the first half of the year while many other businesses in the same field as us have been reporting large losses, closing down activities and dismissing most of their employees", says Hans Johansson.
