Sanmina and Semcon sign strategic partnership Competence exchange allows Semcon and Sanmina to offer customers significantly shorter "time to market" Stockholm, Sweden, 19 April 2001-Semcon, one of the Nordic Region's leading design and development companies, and Sanmina, one of the world's leading electronics companies, have signed a strategic partnership agreement enabling customers to go from idea to delivered product in one step. Through this partnership, both companies will have access to the other's specific competencies for making their processes more effective. "With today's ever shorter life cycles for new products, it has become increasingly important to shorten the time from new product idea to ready for sale. Together with Semcon, we can significantly reduce these times for our customers," said Mike Landy, President of Sanmina Europe. Joint activities To meld each company's competence and know-how as quickly as possible, a training programme will immediately begin at both firms. From 24-26 April, Semcon and Sanmina will have their first joint activity- a technical seminar on cost reduction, "time to market" and internationalisation, in Kista, Västerås and Gothenburg. "Through this partnership with Sanmina, Semcon can take into account those factors that facilitate future mass production at the early stages of the development process of a new product. It will mean savings in both time and money for our customers," said Hans Johansson, Semcon's CEO. Semcon develops products, processes and human resources, concentrating on the telecoms, medical and automotive sectors.
