Semcon commissioned by the Norwegian car industry

Semcon commissioned by the Norwegian car industry. Despite the economic downturn, Semcon's launch on the Norwegian market has proved successful. We recently received an important commission from TH!NK Nordic, the only Norwegian car makers. The Company, 51% owned by Ford, will develop a modern electric car in collaboration with Semcon. "Semcon has a competence which is hard to find in Norway. The country has no traditional knowledge of car-making whilst Semcon has had a close partnership with the Swedish automotive industry and its subcontractors for a long time," Arne Ness's reply, Semcon's Norwegian Managing Director, when asked why Semcon was awarded this prestigious contract. "We're present throughout the Nordic countries and we can bring all our fund of knowledge to bear where it's needed most. Our experience of automotive technology is just right for Norway." says Björn Magnusson, responsible for setting up Semcon's Norwegian office. It has fallen to Semcon to carry out the fault-finding, analysis and documentation for the electric car. TH!NK Nordic is a light-weight electric car with a plastic body. It was fewer components than a normal car, which makes it cheaper and means less servicing. Last year TH!NK Nordic was launched at the international exhibition for electric cars in Brussels, where it aroused a considerable amount of interest both from experts and the public at large. The electric car will be coming on to the Nordic market this year, and next year will see exports to the US.
