Semcon develops website adapted for 6 million visitors Semcon has been given an assignment by Riksutställningar (Swedish Travelling Exhibitions) to redevelop www.tyckomhus.nu, a website for a project of the same name, to be carried out during "Arkitekturåret 2001" (Architecture Year in Sweden 2001). It is one of Sweden's largest websites and there will be enormous demands placed on stress durability in all functions, as 6 million users will need to access it. Semcon's task consists of building a volume-durable website with top quality requirements. The project involves 25 people, where Semcon's role is to develop technical functions that make the project possible and include voting functions, map functions, postcard functions, discussion forums and pages with a summary in English. The next stage in developing the site will be to create a new way for visitors to arrive at the exhibition site virtually. Semcon's strength lies in programming, database production, function production and user understanding, coupled with solid design ability. "We see the assignment as an acknowledgement of our working methods and competence and I feel very proud," says Christian Källqvist, Departmental Manager at Semcon Technical Information in Kista, who built up the team that delivers web-solutions to companies. Through a strong basis in industry and many years experience of product development, Semcon can supply tried and tested concepts and secure functions for advanced web development assignments. "The website is adapted mainly for private use and therefore the key word here is user-friendly, with all functions being fault-secure and be able to be used despite modem speed," he concludes.
