Semcon opens an office in Denmark Semcon has long-term plans for setting up in Denmark and carrying out more in- depth work in the region of Öresund. Semcon is expanding its training operations and opening a Semcon office in Copenhagen, in connection with a training commission. An agreement for project management training totalling 2.1 million SEK has been signed in a joint training venture between Denmark and Sweden. The training is a link in furthering the Danish / Swedish collaboration for Öresund co-operation and its overall goal is therefore to find forms of operation for develop-ment projects in the region. The training is designed as further education for persons with experience in different fields of activities. It aims to provide those who take part in the course with a general view of national as well as international rules for arranging co-operation with the region of Öresund, as well as knowledge of how to create a contact net to perform the same functions on the other side of the sound. In order to tie the training firmly to project work forms, all the training is carried out as a project. Semcon's project management training leads to a PMP (Project Manage-ment Professional), an established and recognised certification of proficiency in project management. To safeguard the quality and methodology of the training, Semcon sponsors the Project Management Institute (PMI). PMI is the world's leading organisation for project managers. The initiative for PMI's division in Sweden, Local Chapter Sweden, was taken by employees of Semcon AB. In addition to project management skills the training also includes business economics, accounts, marketing, law, EU knowledge, knowledge of the world around us, Danish, Swedish, and quality assurance. After completing the training, the participant should also have gained an insight into similarities and difference in the other country's business language, business culture and attitudes, in order to be able to enter into cross-border co-operation more easily. Just as important is bringing about the contact net, which the participants can then make use of in their future professions. "Our business idea is to run training that is closely related to business in terms of the training situation, the labour-market and professions. It is just as important for us to develop future competence together with our co-operation partners, organisations and companies as it is for our trainers to be in continuous contact with the labour-market," says Björn Eichmüller, MD for Semcon Education AB.
