Semcon receives large order from FMV Semcon in Karlskrona will develop and supply base containers for Sweden's Defence Matériel Administration (FMV). The basic order is for SEK 12.1 million. Over a dozen consultants at Semcon's office in Karlskrona have been working with the FMV project for some time. The first ten containers of a total of 31 will be delivered in April next year, and all containers from the first order will have been delivered by August. The containers will be used in all kinds of work in the field by Sweden's international rapid response unit, Swedint. "This is a good concept that many are interested in both in Sweden and abroad," says Hans Johansson, Semcon's CEO. Semcon will take full responsibility for project management, design, testing, documentation, calculations, system security and manufacturing. ISO certification was one of many requirements set by FMV on the company that received the order, which for Semcon is worth SEK 12.1 million. The containers can be assembled quickly during crises and natural catastrophes. System security and environmental security are important ingredients. The containers must be functional and easy to handle in muddy and snowy terrain. For the Swedish military this is the first full-scale production of containers since the 1950s. The military has a great need of highly modern containers and more orders are in the pipeline. "The control of the project has also received a great response. The project plan will be an excellent reference for future projects," concludes Hans Johansson. Semcon in Karlskrona has worked for around 10 years on large assignments for FMV and their subcontractors.
