SEMCON signs agreement with APV Systems. Generates strategically important orders in the Medical sector. Semcon has signed an agreement with APV Systems, part of the Invensys Group, in the medical sector. The agreement means that Semcon will employ15 key staff from the former APV Steridose, a leading international supplier of complete production facilities for the pharmaceutical industry. The agreement underpins Semcon's position as a supplier of complete services in specialised process technology to the medical sector. Semcon will take over current projects for customers including AstraZeneca, Glaxo SmithKline, NovoNordisk, Boehringer Ingelheim and Pharmacia. The agreement runs initially for three years, with ongoing extensions and focuses on process technology, validation support and integration of automation. "We see significant potential for developing this relationship with Semcon," says Sture Smith, previously of APV, but now manager of the recently established department Life Science, at Semcon aimed at the medical sector. "Sture Smith and his team have considerable international expertise and wide-ranging relationships with the world's leading companies in the medical sector," says Hans Johansson, CEO at Semcon. "With this agreement we are taking another important step towards internationalisation in the medical sector, which is one of Semcon's prioritised focus areas.
