Semcon signs Letter of Intent with ABB Flexible Automation. Semcon continues to invest in technical information and is signing a Letter of Intent with ABB Flexible Automation AB of Laxå, Sweden, with the aim of taking over its technical information activities. Negotiations should be completed in January 2001. ABB Flexible Automation is a world leader in the development of automated robotic applications. The partnership will mean that staff affected at ABB will be offered employment at Semcon and that Semcon will take over full responsibility for producing the company's technical documentation for its customers. The partnership covers the six people, including consultants, who currently work with documentation at ABB Flexible Automation AB in Laxå. "Technical information for our customers will become more important for us in future due to greater opportunities via the Internet. To meet this growing demand we feel it's important to find a strategic partner who can develop this business and provide new resources. We are now looking forward to Semcon taking over this business from us via our partnership," says Erik Ideström, Product Development Manager at ABB Flexible Automation AB.
