Sensys Gatso Group, a global leader in traffic safety systems, through its subsidiary, Sensys Gatso USA, has executed a seven-year base-term automated red light enforcement contract with the Township of Montgomery, PA. The contract, which is estimated to be worth up to $2.4 million (USD) was the result of a competitive vendor selection process. The program will include red light enforcement systems. The program is anticipated to begin in late fall.

"Montgomery Township is pleased to partner with Sensys Gatso to support our ongoing efforts to prevent vehicle crashes and make our roadways safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and the motoring public,” said Chief Scott Bendig.

Research has shown that traffic cameras can be highly effective in reducing red light violations and related accidents. According to a study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the use of traffic cameras reduced red light violations by 40% at intersections where they were installed. Additionally, the same study found that there was a 24% reduction in the rate of fatal accidents caused by red light violations in cities with traffic cameras.

“Sensys Gatso has been a regional leader in providing essential traffic safety services to communities in Bucks and Montgomery Counties. We look forward to partnering with Montgomery Township to address their traffic safety concerns,” said Sensys Gatso USA President and Managing Director, Bill Braden. “They have significant concern about the safety at several dangerous intersections in their community. I appreciate the confidence the Township has expressed in Sensys Gatso through our selection”.

Sensys Gatso USA now has four contracts in the State of Pennsylvania.
