Sergeant's Pet Care Products, Inc. Announces Share the Love Contest Winners
(Omaha, Neb. – March 17, 2011) From loving letters to punchy poems, pet owners across America described the strong bonds they feel with their dogs in entries to the “Share the Love” Love Letter Contest from Sergeant’s Pet Care Products, Inc. The contest, held February 1 to February 28, 2011, celebrated the love between people and pets and helped to launch the new PūrLuv™ line of healthy treats from Sergeant’s.
“What an honor to read so many stories about the love between pets and their owners,” shared Caryn Stichler, vice president of marketing at Sergeant’s. “We’re very grateful to all of those who sent in their creative, heartwarming letters and poems. They were not only entertaining, but reminded us at Sergeant’s how fortunate we are to work each day to help improve the lives of pets and strengthen that animal-human bond.”
Winners included:
Grand Prize: Theresa Kosa, West Haven, CT
Theresa will receive a three-day, two-night VIP weekend for two in New York City and a select pet care product assortment gift pack. In her letter, she expressed her love and appreciation for her dog, Ralphie, who was a supportive companion when her husband Thomas was deployed to overseas duty in the U.S. Airforce. Ralphie’s “little sister”, Elizabeth, age three, is featured in the photo with Theresa and Ralphie.
Theresa’s letter to Ralphie
“Ralphie, from the moment I laid eyes on you, I knew there was something special about you. As I watched you grow into the dog you are today, I learned you don’t need words to say how much someone cares. A simple look or gesture said so much. When “dad” was deployed for the first time you were there for me to cry on or just comfort me. Now eight years later I couldn’t imagine my life without you. I enjoy our quiet times together at the beach, in the car or just sitting on the couch watching TV. I only hope you know how much I love you and always will, for there will never be another you. You are faithful, loving and giving. But then again, I always fall for the strong, silent type. I love you Ralph, forever and always.”
First Runner Up: Isabella Miller-Eberlin, Elmira, NY
Isabella and her dog Josephine will receive a year of pampering with bi-monthly grooming at a local grooming salon (six visits) and a select pet care product assortment gift pack. Josephine is a service dog who alerts Isabella to oncoming health issues, protecting her owner in a profound way while providing loving companionship.

“My dearest Josephine, I love you unconditionally, as you love me. You are beyond special, and save my life each and every day. You came into my life by chance, swept me away with your charm, but then became a lifesaver, my service dog. You never fail to warn me before I have a seizure, and have saved my life, and for that, I am eternally grateful. You happily go with me everywhere, and faithfully take care of me, like no other dog ever could. There is no greater bond between person and pet, as what we have. I could never live my life without out you, and you have become a part of me. I am eternally grateful to you, my dearest Josephine.”
