Karlatornet to receive a Clarion hotel
The hotel in Karlatornet will be operated by Petter Stordalen’s hotel group. A letter of intent has been signed between Nordic Choice Hotels and Karlastaden Utveckling AB, the joint venture project company owned by Serneke.
The plans for Karlatornet have, from the start, contained premises for a hotel in the lower part of the tower. Now, Petter Stordalen’s hotel group, Nordic Choice Hotels, will be responsible for the hotel operations under the Clarion Hotel brand.
“This agreement is very gratifying from many perspectives. I share Petter’s approach to hotel conceptualization. We are going to create a hotel experience that will be a memory for life,” says Ola Serneke, CEO of Serneke Group and initiator of the Karlastaden and Karlatornet projects.
“There are those who believe the sky’s the limit. That is wrong! In 2021, this will become apparent to the guests at Clarion Hotel Karlatornet. They will think they ended up in Nirvana as they look out from the rooftop restaurant. This will be an epic experience,” says Nordic Choice Hotels owner and Chairman of the Board, Petter A. Stordalen.
In addition to around 300 rooms, the hotel will include conference facilities, restaurants and bars as well as spa and gym facilities. The hotel will be located in the lower podium building that is part of Karlatornet, and also on the 58th floor of the tower. The surface area of the hotel is approximately 17,000 square meters.
The rental rate is set at around SEK 40 million. According to the letter of intent, the contract must be finalized before the end of October 2017.
Karlatornet is scheduled for completion in 2021 and is the first building to begin construction in the new district.
Karlastaden comprises eight blocks of approximately 2,000 residences, offices and commercial premises. Karlastaden Utveckling AB is a project company, jointly owned by Serneke Group AB and NREP, which will develop residential and commercial properties in the new district.
