Serneke cooperates with Göteborg Energi on Sweden’s largest solar cell park
Sweden’s largest solar cell park to date is to be constructed on Serneke’s land at the Säve flygplats site in Gothenburg. The facility is part of a major initiative in solar energy being made by Göteborg Energi.
The solar park in Säve will be constructed just north of the airfield on an 11-hectare plot, roughly equivalent to a little less that 16 soccer pitches. The facility is expected to be completed in the autumn of 2018. At a total output of 5 MW, the Säve solar cell park will be Sweden’s largest, producing electricity equivalent to annual consumption by household appliances for 1,000 single-family homes. Part of the park will also be allocated to shared ownership by private individuals.

Göteborg Energi has signed a 30-year leasehold agreement for the site concerned, which is part of the approximately 3 million square meters of land around Säve flygplats owned by Serneke.
“We find it highly satisfying to be able to contribute to the development of sustainable energy sources in the Säve area. We also gain good opportunities to buy sustainable energy for our own projects, including Karlstaden,” says Krister Johansson, President of Serneke Property Management, which is responsible for the development and management of the Säve area.
Serneke has also reserved additional land alongside Göteborg Energi’s solar cell park for the purpose of expanding the solar cell facility, although, in that case, under its own initiative.
“This gives us the opportunity to supply the planned development of the Säve area with sustainable energy,” concludes Krister Johansson.
