Serneke plans Malmö’s smartest housing in Hyllie

The City of Malmö has taken a decision regarding a land reserve for Serneke in the Hyllie district. The planned housing Serneke is going to build in collaboration with E.ON will be next generation housing that is energy-positive – smart housing that generates more energy than it consumes.

Serneke has been awarded development rights covering 6,500 square meters of BTA in the planning area Solkvarteren. The development rights apply to tenant-owner residences in multi-dwelling buildings.

“We always aim to create long-term, sustainable, economic, ecological and socially-conscious housing. In Solkvarteret, we will create the truly smartest housing in Malmö, connected with the latest technology available,” says Jonas Håkansson, Regional Manager at Serneke Project Development.

The smart energy housing in Solkvarteret will be created together with the energy company E.ON, using their latest research and experience from, among other things, the Energihuset project in Västra Hamnen.

“Through minimized energy consumption and locally produced energy from solar cells, we will create Malmö’s most climate-smart housing. We are also planning a number of other exciting energy solutions, such as elevators that generate electricity when in use, using electric cars to store energy, and connecting the entire property in order to control, measure and optimize electricity and heating. All technical solutions will be based on the needs of the residents and facilitate a sustainable lifestyle,” says Peter Jonsson, head of sustainable urban development at E.ON.

The land reserve decided on by the Technical Committee is the first step toward a land allocation.

Construction is estimated to be able to commence in 2019, which means the buildings could potentially reach completion in the beginning of 2021.
