The municipally owned property company Trollhättans Tomt AB has contracted Serneke to build the Nya Sylteskolan School in Trollhättan, Sweden. The construction is a partnering contract and the total order value is estimated at around SEK 340 million. The project is scheduled for completion in 2022.

Serneke previously renovated some of Trollhättan’s schools, Lyrfågelskolan and Magnus Åbergsgymnasiet, and has now also been awarded the contract to renew the city’s largest compulsory school, Sylteskolan. Sylteskolan is located in the Sylte district in the south-eastern part Trollhättan and will comprise a compulsory school, a training- and a special-school, an after-school center, library and gymnasium. The school has more than 600 students, but is now expected to grow to nearly 1,000 students in the next few years.

“This is a complex project that will be under way for a long time. The challenge is to maintain optimal project finances and a safe school environment for students, teachers and parents since school activities will continue during construction. We are incredibly proud to have the opportunity to again work in partnership with Trollhättans Tomt AB. Together, we have an opportunity to create dedicated collaboration where we find innovative solutions for the best results,” said Christer Larsson, Construction Manager at Serneke.

As part of the work on planning the new school yard around Sylteskolan, children in grades four and five were given the chance to be involved and express their opinions on the future school yard. This led to a number of suggested measures, including a larger school yard, more soccer fields, covered seating, drinking fountains, and more.

“I am very pleased that we procured a competent and experienced group that we will work with for many years. Everything is scheduled for completion at the end of 2022, when the 1,000 or so students will have full access to fantastic facilities,” said Andreas Danielsson, Project Manager at Trollhättans Tomt AB.

Serneke is a rapidly growing corporate group active in construction, civil engineering, project development and property management with around 800 employees. Through novel thinking, we drive development and create more effective and more innovative solutions for responsible construction. The business has a good mix of public and commercial assignments, providing strength over economic cycles.
