Three residential buildings, called Åhusen and containing a total 170 apartments, will form the next stage in the development of Väsby station area. Serneke has signed a cooperation agreement with Väsbyhem regarding the project. The project will be carried out in two phases, with the preliminary study, building permit documentation and final cost being addressed initially, prior to the production phase.

The customer, Väsbyhem, wants to contribute to young people’s opportunities to move away from home, so most of the apartments in Åhusen will be designed for young people and students. The three buildings, located alongside the Väsbyån river, will contain a total of 170 rental apartments, of which 140 are apartments for students and young people. The buildings will be four to six stories tall.

“This is pleasing in several ways. We are pleased by the confidence Väsbyhem has shown in us and we look forward to working with for the first time. We are also happy to facilitate opportunities for young people to acquire a home,” says Marie Engström, President of Serneke Construction.

“During the current housing shortage, it is crucial to provide new homes of different kinds. Of course, building homes for the groups that face the most difficulty in the housing market today, such as students and young people, feels even better! Together with Serneke, we will further strengthen our role as a community developer in Upplands Väsby Municipality,” says Amra Barlov Lindqvist, CEO of Väsbyhem.

The project with be carried out as a collaborative project and has two phases: In the first phase, which starts immediately, preliminary studies, building permit documentation and final budgeting will be performed. Phase two consists of the development of construction documents and production. Phase two is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2018. Åhusen is expected to be completed by 2020.
