Booth Keeps Richmond International Raceway's Equipment Running

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (September 8, 2010) – Richmond International Raceway's Ed Booth has been named the eighth recipient of the ServiceMaster Clean “Extra Mile Award” this season.

A 12-year veteran of RIR's operations department, Booth maintains all of the ServiceMaster Clean wrapped equipment during an event, as well as the backup generators and light towers. In addition to his race weekend duties, the former U.S. Coast Guard member maintains all of the three-quarter-mile track's equipment.

Booth's wife, Lori, is a nurse and son Eric is in the JROTC program at Lee-Davis High School. He is a member of Atlee Community Church.

“Ed is a valued member of the Richmond International Raceway team,” RIR President Doug Fritz said. “He is the sole individual on staff that is responsible for maintaining all track and grounds equipment and takes pride in his role. Ed is willing to jump in and do whatever it takes to make sure our equipment is 100 percent operational not just for race weekends, but throughout the year as well. He works non-stop to learn new things and has superior technical knowledge, which keeps Richmond International Raceway in the forefront of an ever changing technology world.”

It was noted that Booth's dedication and commitment to his job is in line with ServiceMaster’s standards of professionalism as a business.

“Ed plays a critical role here in Richmond, maintaining all of the track equipment and making sure the lights are operating as they should,” said Jim Wassell, chief marketing officer for ServiceMaster Clean. “He takes pride in what he does and Richmond International Raceway is very fortunate to have him on its team. Ed Booth truly embodies the spirit of the Extra Mile Award and we are honored to recognize his efforts.”

The award recipient can be any member of the track staff that works in a service-oriented position. Track management personnel select the winner. Booth will receive special awards and recognition this weekend during Saturday's pre-race ceremonies at Richmond International Raceway.
