Commits to hire 500 additional veterans by 2014

Memphis, Tenn., November 10, 2011 - - On the day that we give thanks to all those veterans who have served our country ServiceMaster Clean, a ServiceMaster company, announced that G.I. Jobs Magazine ranked it and its sister companies, AmeriSpec and Furniture Medic, in the top 10 percent of all franchise businesses nationwide for veterans. All were also named 2011 Military Friendly Franchises.

ServiceMaster Clean, AmeriSpec and Furniture Medic hold market-leading positions in residential and commercial cleaning, disaster restoration, home inspections and furniture repair. Combined the brands have more than 4500 global franchise and licensed locations.

“The Military Friendly Franchises list was created three years ago out of demand from military veterans, many of whom want to start or own their own business but are unclear where to begin,” said Sean Collins, director for G.I. Jobs magazine. “Being selected as a Military Friendly Franchise places ServiceMaster Clean in this elite group, and is testimony to ServiceMaster Clean’s world class programs and policies that support military veterans interested in franchise opportunities”.

As part of its participation in the International Franchise Association’s (IFA) “Operation Enduring Opportunity,” ServiceMaster Franchise Services Group has also announced a commitment to hire 500 veterans by 2014. ServiceMaster’s corporate owned locations employ approximately 660 veterans today. Operation Enduring Opportunity is a campaign which includes the industry’s more than 825,000 franchise establishments, which support nearly 18 million jobs, to hire and recruit 75,000 veterans and 5,000 wounded warriors by 2014. The announcement, made today, by First Lady Michelle Obama as part of the White House Joining Forces Initiative, represents the largest industry veteran hiring commitment to date.

ServiceMaster Clean offers service members a 15 percent discount off the franchise fee, allowing veterans to use their training and operational skills in a new civilian career. The company also has an in-house financing company that finances 80 percent of the franchise fee and equipment for those who qualify. Visit ServiceMaster Clean at www.ownafranchise.com for details.
