Climate-friendly wood at Nordbygg trade fair

Wood is a renewable building material and is therefore more than ever the obvious choice for a sustainable future when it comes to both furnishings and entire buildings. Setra, Sweden’s largest wood products company, will be taking part in the Nordbygg trade fair in Stockholm from 1-4 April and under the slogan “Step in” will be highlighting the great possibilities that wood offers as a material.

“Wood is the building material of the future,” says Kent Torwald, President and CEO of Setra. “At Nordbygg we want to show the breadth and versatility of wood as a material for construction and furnishing. Wood is not only beautiful and full of variation, it is also strong and has many good product characteristics. In addition, it is a climate-friendly, renewable material.”

One new product that will be launched at Nordbygg is Setra Heartpine, an environmentally-friendly Swedish wood material for patios, verandas and garden rooms. The concept includes outdoor decking, beams and panels. The unique thing about Setra Heartpine is that it consists of at least 90% heartwood, which is rich in natural impregnating substances. That means the product is naturally resistant to rotting and can be used entirely untreated. Modern laser technology is used to select the boards with the highest proportion of heartwood.

Trälyftet, Setra’s industrial building system for multi-storey wooden buildings, offers a climate-friendly solution for future building and dwellings. Not only is wood renewable, it is energy-efficient to process compared with competing building materials. Multi-storey buildings built with Trälyftet also use less energy for heating and ventilation than conventionally built houses. Trälyftet is represented on Setra’s stand. In addition, current Trälyftet projects in Malmö, Skellefteå and Kalix will be presented during the Timber Building Day, which is being organised at Nordbygg by Sveriges Träbyggnadskansli (the Swedish Office of Timber Construction) from 9 am to 4 pm on 2 April.

Setra’s stand will also feature a number of other products and solutions in wood, including various new board materials from UPM Kymmene and Kronoply, kitchens from Scandinavian Kitchen, joinery, glulam, construction wood, interior wood, etc.
