Joint organisation for raw materials and bioproducts
Setra is placing responsibility for raw material purchasing and bioproduct sales in a combined organisation. The new organisation will be headed by Klas Flygare.
Purchases of timber raw materials and sales of bioproducts for Setra’s Whitewood, Redwood, and Wood Products business areas, will be co-ordinated in a joint organisation with effect from 1 December. Klas Flygare, who is currently responsible for Setra’s bioproducts business, will be the new Head of Raw Materials and Bioproducts.
The new organisation for raw material and bioproducts will cover Setra’s three business areas, Whitewood, Redwood and Wood Products. It will be led by a joint steering committee with Per Fredrikson, head of the Whitewood business area, as chairman. Responsibility for operational raw material matters within each business area will remain with Magnus Olsson, Whitewood Raw Material Co-ordinator, and Per Ranudd, Redwood Raw Material Co-ordinator.
Setra’s President and CEO, Johan Padel, comments: “Sawlogs and bioproducts are closely linked and a clearer co-ordination of this business will give us a stronger position in the market.”
Every part of a log is utilised in Setra’s sawmills. Roughly half of the log’s volume becomes boards and planks, the other half becomes various bioproducts. As competition for renewable wood fibre increases, bioproducts have become an increasingly important part Setra’s total business.
Bioproducts mainly comprise raw chips, dry chips, sawdust, wood shavings and bark. Key customers include the pulp and paper industry, heat and power plants, pellet factories, wood fibre board manufacturers and producers of animal bedding and soil improvement products.
