Långshyttan’s glulam factory, part of wood products company Setra Group, will have redundancies of some 10 people when its operations are adjusted to a declining export market.

Kjell Lilletjernbakken, Manager of Setra’s glulam factory in Långshyttan, says: “Now that the Japanese market that is so important for us is declining, we are forced to adjust our production. We can be pleased with the positive trend in the Swedish market but unfortunately this does not compensate for the lost export volumes.”

Approximately 35% of total production at the Långshyttan glulam factory is exported to Japan.

About 10 people will be affected by the production cutback. Negotiations under the Swedish Co-Determination Act (MBL) have started..

Setra operates sawmills and processing units at 16 locations in Sweden. Setra’s glulam factory in Långshyttan is one of the most modern and efficient in Europe for production of standard beams. Approximately 75% of production goes to export. Långshyttan’s glulam factory, which is located in Hedemora municipality in the Swedish county of Dalarna, currently has 50 employees.
